Description
P. & M. Bank. negative film. This image is the front facade of the Planter's and Mechanic's Bank sometime before 1849. It is far more imposing in this image than in the photograph dating from the mid-20th century as it is missing the pitiful "for rent" and "for sale" signs wrapped around its column. The image of the back gate dates at some point between the 1840s and the 1950s as cars are parked in the photograph, but judging by the design, the cars can be no newer than the 1930s.
