P. & M. Bank. negative film. This image is a 19th or early 20th century engraving of the Planter's and Mechanic's Bank. The title accompanying reads, "Planter's and Mechanic's Bank. First National Bank, 1875 to the Present," which seems to imply that the ownership of the bank building has changed hands from the Planter's and Mechanic's Bank to to the First National Bank. It was certainly the First National Bank by 1880.
