[Letter] Camp on Hatterals Point 11th June 1776
D Sir
Capt. Vanderhorst who was ordered yesterday to take post at Bennett’s Landing abt 6 or 7 miles from hence, has just sent me an [illegible] to inform that the enemy with two large boats were within 300 yards of the shore and he believes they will attempt to land. I have ordered a reinforcement to his assistance, the command of which is in trusted to Capt. Marion being the senior officer. I am [assured?] if they offer? to land our people will give a good account of them. However my own opinion is that they mean some [illegible] and probably they will attempt to make good [hard?] landing at some othe place.
I am w great rep [illegible]
