Description
Blacklock House
Back of photograph: "(c) Henry P. Staats / 18 Bull St. 1800 / Blacklock House" Poston: 18 Bull Street, William Blacklock House, the house was constructed in 1800 and was restored in 1973. The home resembles many of the George-double pile houses built decades previous, however the detailing both inside and out is entirely Neoclassical. The back buildings were designed in a completely different Gothic style. An account from the estate dating from May 14, 1816 provides one the most thorough accounts of a Neoclassical town home of the period.
